The VMEprofS  is a complete independent PROFIBUS-DP Slave Interface for the VMEbus. The PROFIBUS Interface is based on the SPC3 ASIC, which handles the layer 1 / 2 of the PROFIBUS Protocol (DIN 19245 / EN 50170) and the microcontroller MC 68331. 64 kB dualport-RAM are used as data interface to the VMEbus. The DP-Slave Firmware (DPS) is in the Flash-EPROM. As you need no special software on the VME host CPU for working with theVME-PROF-S,the board can easily be integrated in VMEbussystems independent of the used operating system. The Host-CPU only accesses to a Dualport-RAM. In the starting phase it puts the configuration bytes and the Profibus address into the DP-RAM. In the operating phase only atcual I/O-datas are read or written.
